Once I responded this to a girl that was complaining about
her depression while hsd everything organized very well but her mind;
“In order to change the way you feel, you need to change the
way you think and you need to roll up your sleeves and get to work on your
mental health, it seems that you are doing all those worldly things that has to
keep you going in a normal life, but you are forgetting about your real self,
It appears that you are seeing the negative part of your life more than the
positive things in it.
Remember one important thing, and that is, every time that
you think in a negative way such as:"I just can't feel happy even I smile
often" You are feeding the Depression-Monster. Look at it as a monster
that is fed with negative thoughts that lead to negative feelings. Try to
change every negative with a positive every time (or try to), after a while you
will feel that the Depression monster starves as the negatives are reducing and
finally it will die.
You need to keep this monster weak and starve it by changing
all negative thoughts to positive ones. let this be your task and concentrate
on it as your guardian angel, watch the way you think and learn about the way
you think, while doing that change all negative thoughts with positive ones
such as:"I just can't feel happy even I smile often" change this with
the positive " my smile generates smile in others" or something like
that, something that changes the negative nature of your thought and therefore
you will feel uplifted. Do enough of this exercise and you will feel better and
stronger each time. It takes a little exercise and after a while you will get use
to it, in the meanwhile consult a psychologist in your area as they will keep
you on your toes to look after your mental health and not just your worldly
responsibilities.”
